Why you should always consider outsourcing for skilled labor

STORY TIME!

A friend recently reached out to me for website design help for the new company she just started working with. At first I thought maybe they were looking for someone to hire or freelance for them, but as the conversation progressed, I realized that it was SHE that needed to do the redesign as it was apparently part of her job description. Mind you, her job description is “Administrative Assistant.”

I was slightly confused since I knew she had zero design background, and never once touched anything related to website design. After a few more questions as to why they were requiring her to do this task, it became clear that the company was just trying to cut corners and not look to outsource for the skilled labor. The past employee that my friend replaced was also tasked with creating the website from scratch (someone who also had no design background) , and unfortunately, it showed. The mobile site looked nothing like the desktop version, the main video was way too fast and choppy, and the formatting on almost every page was off. I had even offered to help free of charge, but her boss only wanted her to work on it.

I offered my friend some basic stepping stones to try to get her started, but if her company had outsourced for this type of skilled labor prior , there would not have been confusion, and they would have had a functioning website up and running from the jump.

Below is an example of some of the work you could expect when using Kapow! IT Services for your website design.
